The Dissolution Period
 c. 1500- 1577

The document relating to the dissolution (Schubert 1957) refer to the “bloomsmithy” at Laskill and a forge at Rievaulx itself.  Both have been located. The slag analyses demonstrate that the furnace is a proto-blast furnace generating a slag with less than 10% FeO.  The smelted iron was sent to the forge at Rievaulx
